HJFMRI Commits to Strengthen its Partnership with KEMRI

A delegation from HJF Medical Research International (HJFMRI) led by the CEO Dr. Joseph Caravalho visited the Institute recently and held a meeting with KEMRI’s senior management led by the Ag. Director General & CEO Prof. Elijah Songok, Ag. Deputy Director CCR, Linus Ndegwa and Ag. Director SPPGM Dr. Maricianah Onono. The two parties discussed at length on proposects of further direct collaboration in capacity building, joint clinical trials, vaccine development and release of research outputs.

During the Monday 15th April 2024 meeting, emphasis was made on how the collaboration continues to provide impactful insights through partnering with the Institute in areas of diagnosis and surveillance.

“We are grateful for acknowledging the transformative essence of capacity building, our shared commitment to mutual growth in research and advancement over the past years,” said Ag. Director General, Prof. Elijah Songok as he welcomed his guests.

Ag. Director SPPGM, Dr. Maricianah Onono expressed her gratitude to HJFMRl for the continued support and collaboration in research which in return attracts more funds through Grants for the researchers. “Grantsmanship support is a groundbreaking research initiative that has always driven innovation, advanced scientific knowledge and improved human health, we aim to catalyze discovery, carry out clinical trials and come up with advanced diagnostic kits for various research centers,” she intimated.

The parties also acknowledged that they could strengthen collaboration through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in Kericho and Kisumu Centers including joint Medical Camps, Clinical equipment, school checkups and treatment activities.

“We are profoundly appreciative for the invaluable partnership forged with KEMRI’s esteemed experts, a collaboration that has not only provided essential funding but also presented us with enticing opportunities for product development. The depth of expertise and dedication demonstrated by the KEMRI team has been instrumental in propelling our joint endeavors forward, fostering innovation, and ultimately contributing to advancements in healthcare, we look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership, leveraging our collective strengths to address pressing challenges and make meaningful contributions to global health,” HJFMRI CEO, Dr. Joseph Caravalho remarked.
