GOVERNMENT OF KENYA


Kenya’s vision for health is to provide equitable and affordable health care at the highest affordable standard to all citizens. At national level, health leadership is provided by the Ministry of Health. Kenya’s Health Policy 2012 –2030 provides guidance to the health sector in terms of identifying and outlining activities to achieve Kenya’s health goals. The policy is aligned to Kenya’s Vision 2030 (Kenya’s national development agenda), the Constitution of Kenya and global health commitments. The Ministry of Health in Kenya is based in Nairobi at the Afya House. The current Cabinet Secretary for Health is Hon. Mutahi Kagwe.

NAGASAKI UNIVERSITY


Nagasaki University Institute of Tropical Medicine (NUITM) started medical corporation at Rift valley Hospital of Kenya in 1960s. The cooperation eventually led to establish a strong relationship between NUTIM and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).In 2005, NUTIM formally established Kenya research station in the compound of KEMRI, which is the start of NUTIM-KEMRI Project

USAMRU Kenya


USAMRU-K is located in Nairobi, Kenya on the campus of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and is one of five U.S. DoD overseas research laboratories. The unit was provisionally established in 1969 at the invitation of the Kenya Government and was permanently established in 1973.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a governmental agency that coordinates Official Development Assistance for the government of Japan. It is chartered with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and the promotion of international cooperation. KEMRI has had very cordial relationship with JICA for nearly 40 years from 1981 when the People and Government of Japan supported the construction of KEMRI Headquarter. Wellcome Trust


The Wellcome Trust is a research charity based in London, United Kingdom. It was established in 1936 with legacies from the pharmaceutical magnate Sir Henry Wellcome to fund research to improve human and animal health. The aim of the Trust is to “achieve extraordinary improvements in health by supporting the brightest minds”, and in addition to funding biomedical research it supports the public understanding of science.

Centers For Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)


The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a federal agency that conducts and supports health promotion, prevention and preparedness activities in the United States, with the goal of improving overall public health. Established in 1946 and based in Atlanta, the CDC is managed by the Department of Health and Human ServicesThe CDC works with partners at the local, state and national level to monitor and prevent disease outbreaks (including bioterrorism), implement disease prevention strategies and maintain national health statistics.
