KEMRI Graduate School Celebrates New Graduates During The 44th JKUAT and 12th PAUSTI Graduation Ceremony

KEMRI Graduate School, in collaboration with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), celebrated its postgraduate students’ graduation during the 44th JKUAT & 12th PAUSTI congregation held on 27th June, 2025. The colorful ceremony, saturated with congratulatory messages and best wishes, served as a reward for tenacity in the face of a journey characterized by the demand to juggle between studies, work, and family.

Among the celebrated graduates from KGS were Dr. Athuman Chiguzo and Dr. Manaseh Bocha, who earned PhDs in Public Health. Ms. Mercy Jepkorir and Mr. Meshack Wadegu received Master of Science degrees in Molecular Medicine, while Ms. Imelda Sembe and Mr. Johnpaul Omollo graduated with MScs in Public Health.

The Chief Guest, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, through a speech delivered by the Director of Education in the State Department of Higher Education, Dr. David Watene, acknowledged the challenges the graduands have had to overcome on their path to achievement. He, however, expressed great optimism about the future.

“I am confident that the training the graduates have undergone conforms to the statutory and professional requirements of the current market demands.”

In a similar vein, the university’s Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ndung’u, congratulated the graduates on their exemplary achievement and reminded them of society’s expectations of them, further urging them to employ their knowledge and skills for the betterment of all. “The society is looking up to you to provide innovative solutions to problems and creative ideas to move our continent forward. I know you have been well trained to fulfil this mandate,” he remarked.

Dr. Elizabeth Matey, Ag. Deputy Director Trainee Welfare represented the KEMRI Graduate School during the graduation ceremony. She extended heartfelt congratulations to all graduates on this incredible achievement. “Your hard work and dedication while balancing your studies and professional commitments are truly inspiring. As you progress in your careers, the KEMRI Graduate family wishes you continued success and fulfillment in all your future endeavors. Embrace this next chapter with confidence!” Also present during the ceremony were Kevin Mataya, Joy Kubai, Brian Orwa, Irene Koech, and Safari Agure of KEMRI Graduate School.

The event underscored KEMRI Graduate School’s commitment to capacity building through quality, accredited, and marketable health courses that strive to improve health status within the country and beyond. Additionally, it highlights the Institute’s collaborative approach to effectively delivering its mandates through prudent identification and partnership with organizations with shared objectives.
