KEMRI offers Specialized Medical Services to Taveta Residence

Members of the public turned up in large numbers for the first time ever four- day KEMRI- Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) free medical camp at the border town of Taveta in Taita – Taveta County.

KEMRI is offering a comprehensive laboratory diagnostic support for among other diseases like, COVID-19 testing, malaria testing and screening, cancer screening among others.

Apart from offering specialized medical services, KEMRI donated over 27,000 liters of hand sanitizers as part of the Institute’s corporate social responsibility contribution to the medical camp being organized and sponsored by the two institutions.

Residents of Taita Taveta County turn up for the four-day KEMRI-KMTC Medical Camp

The Medical Camp which was officially opened by the Member of Parliament for Taveta, Hon. Naomi Shaban and the Director, KMTC, Dr. Michael Kiptoo among other county dignitaries saw the attendance of over 300 people receiving services from a team of experts from KEMRI, KMTC students and staff.

Other services which were being offered include ophthalmology, dental, occupational therapy, pediatrics, nutrition evaluation, prostate cancer screening pharmacy and other routine laboratory services.

KEMRI team conducted COVID -19 rapid testing and cervical cancer screening for members of the public while linking the same for care to the county health officials. The medical camp is part of the KEMRI strategic approach of strengthening county, national linkages in service delivery.
