On Friday, 1st April 2022: KEMRI formally submitted its complete proposal to the Commission for University Education (CUE), that will allow the Institute to be a specialized degree awarding institution, in Kenya. The Commission is mandated to accredited universities for the commencement of the process.
KEMRI’s Director, in charge of Research & Capacity Building, Prof. Elijah Songok presented the proposal to Mr. Joseph Musyoki, the Head of Institutional Accreditation at the Commission for University Education at a ceremony held at the Commission offices.
The Institute has been a key player in the nation’s health emergency response, including laboratory testing, case surveillance, containment strategies, clinical trial and product development in responding to emerging and re-emerging pandemics.
