Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman is encouraging research and management teams involved the COVID-19 activities to provide solution in biotechnology products and services against the pandemic.
Dr. Aman, a distinguished scientist himself said that the whole country was looking up to KEMRI hence we at KEMRI “should not disappoint them”.
“This pandemic is an opportunity to uplift the level of science a notch higher in this country,” said Dr. Aman during a courtesy call on Director General Prof. Yeri Kombe on the afternoon of Wednesday, 29th, April 2020.
Dr. Aman noted that KEMRI being a premiere research Institution has made tremendous progress in research.
“It is a call to change our mindset on how we do things and move forward in great speed to achieve KEMRI’s mandate in research to assist in the mitigation of Covid -19”, he told Prof. Kombe who was accompanied by Mr. Kamau Mugenda (Director Corporate Services) Prof. Sam Kariuki (Director Research and Development) and Dr. Evans Amukoye, in charge of Scientific Programmes, Partnership and Grant Management. Others were senior research scientists, Dr. Vera Manduku, Dr. James Kimotho, Dr. Cecelia Wanjala, Dr.ernhards. Ogutu, Dr. Festus Tolo, Dr, Damaris Matoke, Dr. Sam Konogoi and Dr. Muuo among others.
Dr. Aman who was on a conducted tour of the KEMRI facility that is producing the Viral Transport Media (VTM) and the COVID-19 testing laboratory.
