Words cannot convey the magnitude of this loss. Besides being my astute deputy at KEMRI, Mr. Mugenda served the country in many enviable capacities in the field of Finance, Administration and Human Resource Management with amiable dedication and success.
To his Family, the KEMRI fraternity, may the Almighty God comfort and may the soul of Mr. Kamau Mugenda rest in eternal peace

Prof. Yeri Kombe

Deputy Director KEMRI , in charge of Corporate Communications, Mr. Davis Mkoji, Director Scientific Programmes, Partnerships and Grants Management, Dr Evans Amukoye and the Late Mr. Kamau Mugenda

“Dr. Bukania, you know you are my friend, we are here to support you as scientists, without you we have no work. How is CPHR?,How is UHC?” What can I do for you? Those were the constant words from Humble Mr. Mugenda everytime we met.

Mr. Mugenda because of your desire to understand how things work, your support transformed many things in KEMRI. I had the privilege to work closely with you, and your commitment and dedication was unwavering. Your desires to bring change was an open book, and change you did bring.

We will miss you Sir, May you find peace and cover under God’s Wings. And while there remember to watch over us. Fly with the Angels. RIP

Dr. Zipporah Bukania

You were special and you just slipped away as you came to the KEMRI family. Just know you had another family and getting over it will not be easy. You made us learn alot in the brief time we had together but your departure has left many of us reflecting alot.

Till we meet Again

Bernhards Ogutu

Good people die everyday. Yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way Mr Mugenda did. He has left a legacy of positive experiences for anyone who took the time to know him , which wasn’t a hard thing to do. For those who don’t know KM though i believe are few,can only learn from the legacy he left.May our good Lord rest his soul in eternal peace. You’ve departed from us but you will always remain in our hearts sir.

My brother and colleague Elder Mugenda, this not easy to come in term that you are gone. But I’m encouraged to know as believer you have just gone before us. Your assignment here on earth is over. Like Paul of old you have fought a good battle, you have finished the race and now a crown of victory awaits you. Kamau your good deeds will follow you. Now you have joined the heros of faith. The crowd of faith heros cheering us to keep the faith till the end. Your services in all areas will be missed. My prayer to mama Ann (mama Viyo)my friend , your wonderful children, family members and all friends. What can we say, “May the name of the Lord be praised” for the days, Months and years He gave you to us. SHALOM

A friend, a boss and father figure to me. I miss the days I would walk in to your office and you would welcome me with a fatherly smile, the days we would meet along the corridors and you reminded me that it’s been a while since we had a father and daughter talk, you always reminded me even when I came to see you officially that I should always remember that am talking to a father.

I will cherish every moment we shared, your advise won’t go to waste Boss.
The Kemri fraternity together with your family and many others will surely miss you. Rev.21 :4 is our consolation.

Rest well KM

We have lost an amazing, one of a kind, person indeed. Mugenda was a brother, teacher, mentor and much more. He always kept a smile no matter the situation. He was such a calm human being and an efficient worker. Very solution oriented. What a sad day this is. All in all, I want to thank our almighty God for giving us a chance to meet you Mugenda. We who you have left, have indeed learnt alot that we will emulate. Rest in peace my brother and see you in heaven.

Mercy Njeru

In a moment Mr. Mugenda is no more. Though hard to believe, we are comforted by the word of God that reassures us that he is just asleep. In a twinkling of an eye he will awaken to be rejoined with his loved ones on that resurrection morning.

Dr. Kamau so we called him, epitomised Integrity, humility, equity, patience and forbearance, the busy schedule and workload notwithstanding.
He has fought a good fight

RIP big brother.

The thing I will always remember him most by is his grateful nature, whatever support we provided or needed he always said thank you, from the small things to the big things,he appreciated the roles we all played to ensure things kept moving. He always believed we could do things better and supported us in every way to ensure we did our very best.
